Ahimsa Silk Scarf
In keeping with our ethos, the ahimsa (or peace) silk is ethically supplied from Assam. Ahimsa silk is a variation of silk that is harvested humanely once the hatching pupa has left the silk cocoon. This practice avoids the conventional practice of boiling the worm within the cocoon. Despite the process of harvesting taking 10 days longer and the price of ahimsa silk twice that of regular silk, at Saffron Handloom we believe it is important to support this humane and ethical practice.
The scarves displayed here show an interwoven mix of Ahimsa silk and Organic Cotton or Himalayan Sheep's Wool.
