At Saffron Handloom we weave with silk that purely Ahimsa. This silk, also known as peace silk, is sustainably sourced from Assam. A humane collection method allows silkworms to hatch, and the then empty cocoon is then harvested for spinning into a fine silk thread. This particular silk is incredibly soft and adds an element of luxury to each scarf.

The fibres of this scarf are entirely dyed by hand using dyes collected from flowers, roots and bark. This particular scarf has been dyed with Harada and Tea Leaf. The natural dyes are non-toxic and chemical free, so are therefore ideal for sensitive skin.

Each scarf or shawl is handwoven and therefore unique. Please note due to handwoven and handmade quality of the product there may be at points slight irregularities in the weave and dye. This feature highlights and adds to the unique charm of the product.

All Saffron Handloom's products are fairly traded under the trading CraftMark of India.
